Baba Emma’s is owned by Ron K. and Vasil O., proud partners of more than five years who share a love of good food, family traditions, and new things.
Ron was born and raised right here in Plum Borough and is a proud member of the Class of 2001. He brings local roots, curiosity, and a love for new experiences to Baba Emma’s.
Vasil, originally from Steubenville, Ohio, has spent time in Serbia, where his love for traditional baking grew even stronger. His passion for cooking comes from the joy of seeing people enjoy what he makes. Much of his baking inspiration comes from his Baba, Emma, whose influence is at the heart of the business.
Together, Ron and Vasil bring hometown pride, family tradition, and a shared love of food to everything they create at Baba Emma’s.

Chef Vasil’s passion for cooking began in childhood, side by side with his grandmother Emma, whose traditional Serbian kitchen was filled with warmth, intuition, and time-honored techniques. Under her guidance, he learned to translate “a pinch of this” and “a dash of that” into the precise craftsmanship that defines his cooking today.
Inspired by those early experiences, Vasil pursued formal culinary training at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute before continuing his education at Duquesne University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, restaurant management, and nutrition.
Over the past 30+ years, Chef Vasil has refined his craft while working alongside renowned executive chefs, including John Q. Hammons and Wolfgang Puck. This blend of tradition, training, and professional excellence shapes every dish and dessert he creates, from custom cakes to freshly baked goods. Today, he brings that depth of experience, creativity, and dedication to your table through his exceptional catering services — delivering food made with skill, heart, and passion.
